About

I am a final year PhD sudent at UCSD, advised by Prof. Alex Snoeren. I currently work on enabling user-defined programmable switches [1,2]. My interests lie in the area of systems and networking. I will be graduating soon and on the job market (you can find my CV here).

While at UCSD, I have also worked on datacenter fault detection [4] and the RotorNet project [3]. Prior to joining UCSD, I was a part of the PinDrop project at Microsoft Research India where I worked on improving quality of service of real-time streaming applications [5,6]. During my Masters program at IIT Kanpur, I worked on building a tutoring system for introductory programming courses [thesis].

Research

How can application-specific functionality be run on shared high-performance programmable switches?

As a part of my dissertation, I am building systems that enable deployment of user-defined behavior within a programmable network using active networking. My recent paper [1] describes ActiveRMT - an user-driven approach to deploying functionality over a programmable switch using capsule-based active networking, enabling multi-tenancy and runtime provisioning of application offloads.

Current Approach (using P4)
ActiveRMT

In addition, I am attempting to enable deployment of "passive" network functions using ActiveRMT, democratizing "processing bandwidth".
